NEWS: Angel Productions is producing a brand new 'Best of the Bunch' package in 2008.  You can read about it here, including our current offer to pre-purchase copies at half price.  Meanwhile, the original Best of the Bunch, described below, is still available and still widely used.  Customers purchasing copies now will be offered a special price to upgrade to the new version when it is available.

Fairness  and effectiveness can, and should, go hand in hand. A systematic, criterion-based approach ensures effective selection and equality of opportunity for all candidates.

Produced with advice from the Commission for Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Industrial Society and the Institute of Personnel and Development, Best of the Bunch is an essential training tool, whether for recruiting new staff or selecting existing staff for retraining or redeployment. Suitable for individual study as well as group training. The videos combine entertaining drama and factual material.

Video 1: Sense of Humour Essential

Introducing the principles of systematic recruitment. Through a mixture of drama and factual case studies it describes each stage of the process: setting selection criteria, attracting applicants, shortlisting, the interview, selection, and monitoring the performance of the successful candidate. The programme can be run continuously or used in sections.

Video 2: Worst After Lunch

Starting with some cautionary and entertaining examples of what not to do, this programme shows employers how to get the best results out of the selection interview. Through a combination of drama and expert advice, it sets out a structured, criterion-based approach to interviewing, designed to get the best person into the job and treat all the candidates fairly. The programme goes on to show how other selection methods can be combined in an assessment centre.

The videos are supplied with a comprehensive Trainers’ Guide which can be printed from the supplied CD-rom.

The learning points are clear. The structure makes the programme very useable in training. Production quality is excellent. - Patrick Spencer, EMI Music International.

an extremely well researched and produced package - The Industrial Society

... went down very well indeed - I’ve used them for 5 interviewing courses over the last 7 days! - Helen Gregory, the Gregory Partnership
